Die Agterplaas is situated at the foot of the historical Melville Koppies. The view, tranquillity and bird life easily lull visitors into forgetting they're in South Africa's busiest city. Yet the attractions of the Melville boutiques, bookshops, coffee bars and nightclubs are just a stone's throw away. We are approximately 3 kilometres from Johannesburg University, and 7 kilometres from Wits
Die Agterplaas offers 10 en suite rooms which can be configured as singles, doubles or twins (two beds). There is also a very spacious cottage with self catering facilities that would normally be allocated to guests who are staying for longer periods of time. The cottage and two other units are across the street from the main building on Jannie's premises (proprietor of Die Agterplaas), and the cottage has a delightful private garden. All units have fans, heaters, TV, a bar fridge, ADSL connection and coffee/tea facilities with complimentary juices and cold drinks. Lock-up garages are available at no extra cost.
A variety of breakfasts is served in the large dining room with authentic Oregon Pine flooring and pressed steel ceilings. We also offer limited informal conference facilities.

From Johannesburg International Airport:
1. Out of the Airport take the JOHANNESBURG (R24) route
2. Continue past BARBARA ROAD and EDENVALE ROAD
3. About 9.5 kms from the airport there is a split in the road - take the left turn which is JOHANNESBURG/DURBAN/KIMBERLEY
4. About 6 km further (after passing VAN BUUREN STREET) there is another split
5. Take the left turn to GERMISTON/JOHANNESBURG
6. Immediately go right towards JOHANNESBURG
7. About 10km further after passing CLEVELAND - DENVER - RUVEN RD / BENROSE MARITZBURG RD / KASERNE - HARROW ROAD RISSIK STREET - SELBY you will reach another split
8. Take the left turn to SANDTON/PRETORIA
9. After passing CARR AND SMIT STREETS, take the left turn into EMPIRE ROAD
10. Immediately left again into EMPIRE - direction AUCKLAND PARK
11. Keep going in EMPIRE ROAD as it swerves left at the Holiday Inn, cross two robots (traffic lights) and then runs onto a T-junction
12. At the T-junction (Steers and Engen on the left) turn right into KINGSWAY
13. At the first corner where one can, turn RIGHT into LOTHBURY AVE(NB. ...which is COOKHAM to the left)
14. Drive through Melville Village - LOTHBURY changes to 7TH STREET
15. When you get to another T-junction turn RIGHT into 5TH AVENUE
16. Turn first LEFT into 8TH STREET and immediately LEFT again into 6TH AVENUE
17. About 200 metres further number 66 is on your left. 4 identical green and white garages identify DIE AGTERPLAAS B+B

From Pretoria:
1. From the BEN SCHOEMAN Highway (N1) go right into Johannesburg. Continue past SANDTON and the bends after RIVIERA ROAD
2. After passing JAN SMUTS ROAD TURNOFF, Take the left turn into EMPIRE ROAD
3. Immediately right into EMPIRE - direction AUCKLAND PARK Keep going in EMPIRE ROAD as it swerves left at the Holiday Inn, cross two robots (traffic lights) and then runs onto a T-junction
4. At the T-junction (Steers and Engen on the left) turn right into KINGSWAY
5. At the first corner where one can, turn RIGHT into LOTHBURY AVE(NB. ...which is COOKHAM to the left)
6. Drive through Melville Village - LOTHBURY changes to 7TH STREET
7. When you get to another T-junction turn RIGHT into 5TH AVENUE
8. Turn first LEFT into 8TH STREET and immediately LEFT again into 6TH AVENUE
9. About 200 metres further number 66 is on your left. 4 identical green and white garages identify DIE AGTERPLAAS B+B

From Rustenburg
1. Take N4 toll road to Pretoria. Approximately 55 km from Rustenburg take the turnoff (233) to Randburg and Hartbeespoortdam. It runs onto a T-junction, where you turn right.
2. You will soon reach another T (R104), where you turn left to Schoemansville/Midrand.
3. After 5 km of an almost dangerously narrow road there are Engen-garages on both sides of the road and a tourism-sign on the left. Although presently (November 2005) there is no road sign, turn right at this point.
4. 4 km further on this road turn left (R512) to Randburg.
5. After 9.5 km there is the Junction Farm Stall. Turn right (R512) Lanseria.
6. After 22km go right onto the Krugersdorp highway (R28/N14), and leave it again at the first offramp (R287) Zwartkop/Randburg.
7. Turn left towards Randburg. After roughly 14 km you will cross the "cement highway" to Pretoria and this street becomes Beyers Naudé which will take you past Cresta Centre on your left, Northcliff corner on your right, and West Park Cemetery on your right.
8. You now approach Melville Koppies (small hills) and will pass the traffic light at Judith Road which goes to your left just before the upward slope. Keep on going untill you reach the traffic light at 4th Avenue, and turn left.
9. Go down 4th Avenue to the traffic light c/o 7th Street and turn left again.
10. Just one block down you will encounter a T-junction at 5th Avenue - turn right there.
11. Then turn first left into 8th Street, and immediately left again into 6th Avenue.
